Beacon Hill Primary School Hello Yellow!

I'm wearing yellow this World Mental Health Day and raising vital funds for YoungMinds

This Hello Yellow I will join thousands of individuals, schools and communities across the country to raise money and show young people that they're not alone with their mental health.

Right now, more than 1 in 4 young people have a probable mental health condition. Many aren't getting the help they need, when they need it. Some don’t even know where to turn, who to talk to, or if anyone else feels the same. But we can change this.

By wearing yellow on World Mental Health Day (10 October), and donating what you can, you can show young people that they are not alone and that things can get better.

Wear it loud. Wear it proud. Because we stand brighter, together.

Letter to parents

Tuesday 30th Sep

Dear parents and carers,

Beacon Hill Primary school will be taking part in Hello Yellow on Friday 10th October (World Mental Health Day) to raise awareness and funds for YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity for young people’s mental health.

No young person should feel alone with their mental health and that’s why Hello Yellow matters. We’re taking this opportunity as a school community to come together and show our students that we’re with them and they’re never alone with their mental health.

We’ll be taking part by having a non-uniform day and wearing something yellow. The children will also be completing a wellbeing Bingo, doodling their feelings and making peer support pledges!

During the week commencing Monday 6th October, the children will also be completing different activities for the NSPCC Kindness Challenge. Acts of kindness help to spread positivity and make everyone in our community happy!

We’d like to ask parents and carers to consider donating to Young Minds. Our suggested donation is £1. You can donate to our school’s fundraising page below:

https://fundraise.youngminds.org.uk/fundraisers/beaconhillps/hello-yellow

Most importantly, we want to share the resources which YoungMinds offer to support parents and carers if you ever need help and advice to support your children.

This includes:

• online resources (www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/)

• a phone line, open 9.30am-4pm (0808 802 5544)

• an online chat for parents and carers to speak to trained professionals if you’re concerned about your children’s mental health (www.youngminds.org.uk/parents-helpline/)

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Kind regards,

Fiona Allan
