I'm wearing yellow this World Mental Health Day and raising vital funds for YoungMinds

This Hello Yellow I will join thousands of individuals, schools and communities across the country to raise money and show young people that they're not alone with their mental health.

Right now, more than 1 in 4 young people have a probable mental health condition. Many aren't getting the help they need, when they need it. Some don’t even know where to turn, who to talk to, or if anyone else feels the same. But we can change this.

By wearing yellow on 9th October for World Mental Health Day, and donating what you can, you can show young people that they are not alone and that things can get better.

Wear it loud. Wear it proud. Because we stand brighter, together.

829,308 children, accessed NHS funded mental health services...

Friday 9th Oct

Today, our school is going yellow to shine a light on something that matters every single day: our mental health and wellbeing.

Hello Yellow is a chance to show that kindness matters, every feeling counts, and nobody should have to face difficult times alone.

Why does mental health matter?

Mental health is just as important as physical health. We all have feelings, and sometimes life can feel tricky. We might feel happy, excited and confident, but we can also feel worried, sad, lonely or overwhelmed. All feelings are part of being human, and it is always OK to talk about them.

The latest NHS figures show why this support matters. In England, 829,308 children and young people aged 0–17 accessed NHS-funded mental health services in 2024/25,  around 41,200 more than in the previous year. These figures show how many young people accessed support, rather than how many experience mental health difficulties overall.

We also know from NHS England’s 2023 survey that around 1 in 5 children aged 8–16 had a probable mental disorder. These figures remind us that children’s mental health deserves our attention, understanding and care.

How can we make a difference?

We do not need to do something enormous to make a difference to someone’s day. Sometimes, the smallest things mean the most.

💛 Be kind. A smile, a friendly hello or inviting someone to join your game can help them feel included.

💛 Listen. If somebody is upset, give them time to talk. You do not need to have all the answers; showing that you care can mean a lot.

💛 Talk about feelings. There is no need to hide how you feel. If something is worrying you, speak to a trusted adult, such as a teacher or someone at home.

💛 Look out for one another. If you notice somebody sitting alone or having a difficult day, a little kindness can help them feel that they belong.

💛 Remember to look after yourself, too. Play, rest, spend time with people you trust and give yourself permission to ask for help when you need it.

Let's make kindness shine

Hello Yellow is about so much more than wearing something yellow. It is about creating a school where everyone feels welcome, where we can talk openly about our feelings and where asking for help is a sign of strength.

Today, let’s brighten our school with yellow, fill it with kindness and remind each other that we all matter.

You matter. Your feelings matter. And you deserve to be listened to.

Together, we can make a difference, one conversation, one smile and one act of kindness at a time.

💛 Happy Hello Yellow! 💛

It's nearly here!

Thursday 8th Oct

It’s Nearly Here! Hello Yellow is TOMORROW! 💛

Tomorrow, Friday 9th October, we're coming together to celebrate Hello Yellow and show that no young person should ever feel alone with their mental health.

We can't wait to see everyone wearing their brightest, boldest yellow and helping us spread a little sunshine! ☀️

But Hello Yellow is about so much more than wearing a colour. It's about reminding everyone that it's good to talk, it's okay not to be okay and there's always someone ready to listen. 💛

By taking part, we're helping to raise awareness of the importance of looking after our mental health, supporting one another and making sure every young person knows their feelings matter.

So, dig out those yellow T-shirts, jumpers, socks or accessories and let's make tomorrow a sea of yellow!

Together, we can make a difference – one conversation at a time. 💛

Thank you to everyone supporting our fundraising for YoungMinds. We can't wait to celebrate with you tomorrow!
